GP, RW Coonsboro's Mario "Indy" Coondretti

I grew up in a family that raced modified cars on the NASCAR racing circuit in New Jersey.  During the 50’s, 60’s and early 70’s my father, Parker Bohn, raced modifieds up and down the east coast here in the United States. The entire family was always with him on race days.  We were and always will be very proud of Dad and his great accomplishments. The “GMC 659” was probably the most famous car driven by him. It was built and owned by Tom Skinner. Today the combo was--and still is--a racing legend.  Dad won many races and defeated numerous big block V-8’s with this 6 cylinder beauty!

Racing still remains a very important part of my family’s lifestyle today. Most of my family still resides in New Jersey. My brother, Eddie, races both asphalt and dirt tracks. My brother-in-law, Harold Dauncey, races NASCAR modifieds at Flemington Speedway. Yes, I even raced a few times. Of course these were races for ladies only, known as Powder Puffs. I even have a checkered flag under my belt!

My first Maine Coon, GP RW Coonsboro’s Mario “Indy” Coondretti (pictured left) introduced me to this very special breed of cat. Indy’s name was chosen to honor Mario Andretti, one of the greatest racing legends today, who my whole family admired. Nascat kitties continue to have names or phrases that have something to do with the exciting, fascinating world of fine automotive machinery and speed in which I grew up.

Today, as a wife and mother, the only racing I do is to hockey rinks with my two sons and to cat shows!  To honor my family’s love of NASCAR racing, my show curtains are black and white checkered fabric with a display of racing flags sitting proudly on top of the cage.

Nascat cattery was established early in 1993 after three years of showing Maine Coons as a fancier.  We show our cats in The Cat Fanciers Association (CFA), The International Cat Association (TICA) and American Cat Fanciers Association (ACFA).  We are full breeder members of the Maine Coon Breeders and Fanciers Association (MCBFA).

Our kittens are raised underfoot as part of the family in our 4,000 square foot home.  Since Nascat was founded, the cattery is inspected by a veterinarian each year and we have received the CFA “Cattery of Excellence” award on an annual basis.

Nascat cattery specializes in brown mackerel and classic tabbies with and without white, with occasional silvers.

We are members of the Maine Coon Breeders and Fanciers Association (MCBFA) and our Maine Coons are bred to CFA Maine Coon Standards, consistent with large, long bodied cats with a sweet yet wild look.  Our females average 10 to 14 pounds while our males range from 16 to 20 pounds, with a few whole males that tip the scales, like Tracker, at 24 pounds

Nascat Maine Coons have size, temperament and wonderful personalities ideal for both pet and show cats.

Our breeding program focuses on health.  The pedigree and health history of each cat chosen for our cattery is carefully screened to promote, protect and preserve the Maine Coon breed.
